Aeration
Core aeration provides numerous benefits to your lawn. Over time soil naturally
becomes compacted, leaving the subsoil undesirable for healthy lawn growth,
resulting in thinner grass and more weeds. Walking, playing, mowing, and
watering compacts particles and reduces the air space necessary for root
growth. Compaction is greater in the upper 1 to 1½ inches of soil
and needs to be relieved by mechanical aeration. This mechanical process
plugs two to three inches deep, finger size holes into the soil to improve
the air, water, and nutrient exchange within the root system of your lawn.
Aeration is a good practice to follow every two years or so.
Aeration will:
• Stimulate root growth
• Enhance water uptake
• Reduce compaction
• Improve oxygen content
• Improve nutrient availability
